Route DA, NE and 5-HT through their canonical associations and distinguish uptake from loading.
Membrane transport routes
Associate dopamine with DAT, norepinephrine with NET and serotonin / 5-HT with SERT. These are instructional associations, not an exhaustive biological claim of exclusive substrate specificity.
Vesicular loading
Uptake moves a molecule to terminal cytosol through an anchored membrane transporter. A separate vesicular transporter loads a vesicle. The first transporter remains in the plasma membrane.
Ending the signal
The digest emphasizes MAO for monoamines and MAO/COMT for dopamine and norepinephrine. Enzyme location matters. This routing activity models uptake and loading only; it invents neither a generic cleft enzyme nor a compulsory metabolic step before recycling.
Keep the context in view
Dopamine is not reduced to a pleasure chemical, and more serotonin is not a universal improvement. No drug-selection, blockade-profile, treatment, supplement or dosing advice is provided.
Canonical DA–DAT, NE–NET and 5-HT–SERT associations. Uptake reaches cytosol; separate loading reaches vesicles. Boxes group related structures; positions are illustrative, not anatomical scale. Read the accompanying lesson for causal and alternative routes.
